第35章 对一位受欢迎的布道士的呼吁
§1 第三十五章 对一位受欢迎的布道士的呼吁
§2 Chapter 35—Appeal to a Popular Evangelist
§3 上帝必丰富地赐福给谦卑真诚的人、友善仁慈的人、救济寡妇和孤儿需要的人。{1NL 113.1}
§4 God will richly bless those who are humble and sincere, those who are kind and benevolent, who relieve the wants of the widow and the fatherless.?{1NL 113.1}
§5 这是一个奢侈炫耀的时代。人们以为必须炫耀才能获得成功。然而事实并非如此。要奉拿撒勒人耶稣基督的名开始从事你的工作,说明为了得到效果而不必要地花钱的虚妄。要传讲和实行节约。要以简朴、谦卑和优雅的尊严作工,你的工作就会造成持久的印象。要充满信任地倚靠上帝,恳切祈求祂帮助,顺从祂的道——这就如同将金银宝石带到根基。{1NL 113.2}
§6 This is an age of extravagance and display. Men think that it is necessary to make a display in order to gain success. But this is not so. Take up your work in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and show the fallacy of expending means needlessly for effect. Preach and practice economy. Labor with simplicity, humility, and graceful dignity, and your work will make a lasting impression. Trustful dependence on God, earnest prayer to Him for help, obedience to His Word—these are as gold and silver and precious stones brought to the foundation.?{1NL 113.2}
§7 要极其清楚地强调一切受造之物都倚赖耶和华并在祂的控制之下,祂按照自己的美意,用他们作祂的工具,帮助相信的人得救,也宣告硬着心肠不肯悔改之人的灭亡。{1NL 113.3}
§8 Make it stand out with the greatest clearness that all created things are dependent on and under the control of Jehovah, and that as He sees best, He uses them as His instruments for the salvation of those who believe, and as instruments for the destruction of those who harden their-hearts in impenitence.?{1NL 113.3}
§9 要感动成千上万的人To Reach Thousands
§10 有成千上万的人要被真理感动。有成千上万的人要接受基督为个人的救主。必须以一种总的来说比你们一直在进行的计划更加节约的计划从事大纽约的工作。基督说:“若有人要跟从我,就当舍己,背起他的十字架来跟从我”(太16:24)。要谈论真理,实践真理,存完全谦卑的心并以完全单纯的行为行在上帝面前。要让天使看出你们爱上帝,实行基督的谦卑。这是人人进入主的朝廷都必须做的。他们必须在今生行在基督为跟从祂的人提供的又新又宝贵的道路上。{1NL 113.4}
§11 There are thousands to be reached by the truth. There are thousands who are to receive Christ as a personal Saviour. Greater New York must be worked on an altogether more economical plan than the plan on which you have been working. Christ says, “Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” Talk the truth, live the truth, walk before God in all humility of mind and in all simplicity of action. Let the angels see that you love God, and that you practice the humility of Christ. This all must do who enter the courts of the Lord. In this life they must walk in the new and precious way that Christ has provided for His followers.?{1NL 113.4}
§12 我的弟兄,我在这个时候写这个是因为我希望你预备好从事帐篷大会工作,预备好向成千上万的人讲道,用言语和例证说明必须提出的真理。请容我说必须对你说的话。在强烈情绪的影响之下形成的轻率的决定,没有时间深思熟虑或求问上帝的意见,一般来说是错误的,往往极不公正。{1NL 113.5}
§13 My brother, I write you this at this time because I want you to be prepared to engage in camp meeting work, prepared to speak to thousands, making plain by word and illustration the truths that must be presented. Suffer me to say the things that must be said to you. Hasty decisions, formed under the influence of strong feeling, without time for deliberation or for asking counsel from God, are generally wrong and are often exceedingly unjust.?{1NL 113.5}
§14 Cultivate Gentleness
§15 我有主的话要对你说。你需要培养基督的温柔。与上帝谈心会使你增加为善的感化力。要将谦卑带进你的业务生活和宗教生活中。要警醒,警醒,再警醒!为了你孩子们的缘故,要警醒!{1NL 113.6}
§16 I have the word of the Lord for you. You need to cultivate the gentleness of Christ. Communion with God will give you increased influence for good. Bring humility into your business life and into your religious life. Watch, watch, watch! For the sake of your children, watch!?{1NL 113.6}
§17 要与弟兄们一起商量。我劝你不要脱离整体。要合一!要合一!要谨慎避免不和与纷争。不要说我在夜间的异象中在你所出席的议事会上听到的你所说过的话语。要说基督若是处在你的位置就会说的话。{1NL 113.7}
§18 Unite with your brethren in counsel. Do not, I beg of you, stand apart as a separate whole. Unify! unify! Exercise care to avoid discord and strife. Do not speak words such as I heard you speak when in the night season I was in a council meeting at which you were present. Speak the words that Christ would speak were He in your place.?{1NL 113.7}
§19 主是你惟一的保障。要敬畏祂,并因祂的话而战兢。祂必向祂的子民显现祂自己,不像祂对世人所做的。{1NL 113.8}
§20 The Lord is your only safeguard. Fear Him, and tremble at His word. He will manifest Himself to His people as He does not to the world.?{1NL 113.8}
§21 凡自称信仰真理的人应当谨慎维护自己的体力和智力,使上帝和祂的圣工不致因他们的言行而受到羞辱。我们的习惯和行动要顺服于上帝的旨意。要注意自己的饮食。{1NL 114.9}
§22 Those who claim to believe the truth are to guard carefully the powers of body and mind, so that God and His cause will not be in any way dishonored by their words or actions. The habits and practices?are to be brought into subjection to the will of God. We are to give careful attention to our diet.?{1NL 113.9}
§23 肉食的使用
§24 The Use of Flesh Meats
§25 我得到清楚的指示:上帝的子民应当采取坚决的立场反对肉食。他们如果想要有纯洁的血液和清明的心智,就必须放弃肉食。如果祂不想让他们注意这个信息,还会在三十年来一直把这个信息传给祂的子民吗??{1NL 114.1}
§26 It has been clearly presented to me that God’s people are to take a firm stand against meat eating. Would God for thirty years give His people the message that if they desire to have pure blood and clear minds, they must give up the use of flesh meat, if He did not want them to heed this message??{1NL 114.1}
§27 吃肉会加强人动物的本性,削弱灵性。像你这样从事人间最严肃最重要工作的人,需要特别注意自己的饮食。?{1NL 114.2}
§28 By the use of flesh meat the animal nature is strengthened and the spiritual nature weakened. Such men as you, who are engaged in the most solemn and important work ever entrusted to human beings, need to give special heed to what they eat.?{1NL 114.2}
§29 要记住当你吃肉的时候,你只是间接地吃谷物和蔬菜,因为饲养动物进行销售的营养来自植物。谷物和菜蔬的生命进入动物身上,成为动物生命的一部分,人再吃动物,他们为什么这样乐意吃二手的食物呢??{1NL 114.3}
§30 Remember that when you eat flesh meat, you are but eating grains and vegetables secondhand; for the animal receives from these things the nutrition that makes it grow and prepares it for market. The life that was in the grains and vegetables passes into the animal, and becomes part of its life, and then human beings eat the animal. Why are they so willing to eat their food secondhand??{1NL 114.3}
§31 起初上帝宣布果子“好作食物。”允许肉食是人类堕落的结果。直到洪水之后,人类才得到吃动物的肉的许可。那么我们为什么要吃肉呢?吃肉的人很少知道肉食会带来许多疾病。肉食从来就不是最好的食物,现在因着疾病就更不好了。?{1NL 114.4}
§32 In the beginning, fruit was pronounced by God as “good for food.” The permission to eat flesh meat was a consequence of the fall. Not till after the flood was man given permission to eat the flesh of animals. Why then need we eat flesh meat? Few who eat this know how full it is of disease. Flesh meat never was the best food, and now it is cursed by disease.?{1NL 114.4}
§33 一想到要宰食动物就会令人作呕。如果人类天然的感官没有因肉食而败坏,人类就不会想吃动物的肉。?{1NL 114.5}
§34 The thought of killing animals to be eaten is in itself revolting. If man’s natural sense had not been perverted by the indulgence of appetite, human beings would not think of eating the flesh of animals.?{1NL 114.5}
§35 我们与健康改良的关系
§36 Our Relation to Health Reform
§37 上帝已交给我们推进卫生改革的工作。主切愿祂的子民彼此配合。应当知道,我们不可离开过去三十五年来主所吩咐我们要坚持的立场。你们应当小心,不可置身于与卫生改革工作敌对的立场上。这种工作必要向前推进;因为这是上帝的一种方法,用以减轻人间的痛苦,洁净祂的子民。{1NL 114.6}
§38 We have been given the work of advancing health reform. The Lord desires His people to be in harmony with one another. As you must know, we shall not leave the position in which, for the last thirty-five years, the Lord has been bidding us stand. Beware how you place yourself in opposition to the work of health reform. It will go forward; for it is the Lord’s means of lessening the suffering in our world, and of purifying His people.?{1NL 114.6}
§39 应当留心自己的态度,免得被人认为是引起分裂的。我的弟兄啊!你既然没有使自己及家人得到顺从卫生改革的原则而来的福惠,就不该反对上帝所赐关于这方面的亮光,贻害他人。?{1NL 114.7}
§40 Be careful what attitude you assume, lest you be found causing division. My brother, even while you fail to bring into your life and into your family the blessing that comes from following the principles of health reform, do not harm others by opposing the light God has given on this subject.?{1NL 114.7}
§41 我们并不把吃肉作为一条标准,也不想强迫人放弃吃肉,可是我们有责任要求我们教会的传道人不可轻视或反对这方面改革的信息。面对上帝所赐有关肉食对人体造成后果的亮光,你仍继续吃肉,就要为后果负责。不要在人前采取这样的立场,让人以为不必改变肉食的习惯,因为主正在呼于改革。主已经把宣扬卫生改革信息的工作委托给我们。如果你不能随宣传这个信息的人一同前进,就不利于它的传播。你既妨碍了教导卫生改革信息之同工的工作,就是脱离正轨,站在错误的立场上。{1NL 114.8}
§42 While we do not make the use of flesh meat a test, while we do not want to force anyone to give up its use, yet it is our duty to request that no minister of the conference shall make light of or oppose the message of reform on this point. If, in the face of the light God has given concerning the effect of meat eating on the system, you will still continue to eat meat, you must bear the consequences. But do not take a position before the people that will permit them to think that it is not necessary to call for a reform in regard to meat eating, because the Lord is calling for reform. The Lord has given us the work of proclaiming the message of health reform, and if you cannot step forward in the ranks of those who are giving this message, you are not to make this prominent. In counterworking the efforts of your fellow laborers, who are teaching health reform, you are out of order, working on the wrong side.?{1NL 114.8}
§43 要意念相同Be Like Minded
§44 基督是我们的榜样。祂本来在天庭在上帝的旁边。但祂却来到这个地球住在人间。“所以,在基督里若有什么劝勉,爱心有什么安慰,圣灵有什么交通,心中有什么慈悲怜悯,你们就要意念相同,爱心相同,有一样的心思,有一样的意念,使我的喜乐可以满足。凡事不可结党,不可贪图虚浮的荣耀;只要存心谦卑,各人看别人比自己强。各人不要单顾自己的事,也要顾别人的事。你们当以基督耶稣的心为心:祂本有上帝的形像,不以自己与上帝同等为强夺的;反倒虚己,取了奴仆的形像,成为人的样式;既有人的样子,就自己卑微,存心顺服,以至于死,且死在十字架上。所以,上帝将祂升为至高,又赐给祂那超乎万名之上的名,叫一切在天上的、地上的,和地底下的,因耶稣的名无不屈膝,无不口称‘耶稣基督为主’,使荣耀归与父上帝”(腓2:1-11)。(《信函》1902年第48号)?{1NL 114.9}
§45 Christ is our Example. He was next to God in the heavenly courts.?But He came to this earth to live among men. “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfill ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”—Letter 48, 1902.?{1NL 114.9}

救灵工作中的神力与人力
§47 Divine and Human Agencies in the Work of Saving Souls
§48 我们对基督教原则的忠诚叫我们积极事奉上帝。那些不将自己的才干用在上帝事工上的人,不会与基督的荣耀有分。亮光要从每一个领受上帝恩典的人发出来。有许多人处在黑暗中,可是许多人却对此事感到安然自在,静如止水!?{1NL 115.1}
§49 Our fidelity to Christian principles calls us to active service for God. Those who do not use their talents in the cause and work of God, will have no part with Jesus in His glory. Light is to shine forth from every soul that is a recipient of the grace of God. There are many souls in darkness, but what rest, and ease, and quietude many feel in this matter!?{1NL 115.1}
§50 成千上万的人享受着大光和宝贵的机会,却无所事事,不用他们的感化力或金钱去开导他人。他们甚至不负起责任保守自己的心灵在上帝的爱里,使自己不至于成为教会的负担。这种人只会成为天国的重累和阻碍。他们应当为基督的缘故、为真理的缘故、为自己的缘故醒起,并为永恒而殷勤工作。天上的居所是为凡遵照圣经所规定的条件去行的人预备的。?{1NL 115.2}
§51 Thousands enjoy great light and precious opportunities, but do nothing with their influence or their money to enlighten others. They do not even take the responsibility of keeping their own souls in the love of God, that they may not become a burden to the church. Such ones would be a burden and a clog in heaven. For Christ’s sake, for the truth’s sake, for their own sakes, such should arouse and make diligent work for eternity. Heavenly mansions are preparing for all who will comply with the conditions laid down in the Word of God.?{1NL 115.2}
§52 为了处在黑暗和谬论中的、基督为之而死的人,一切真正跟从基督的人都奉命要作世上的光。上帝已在这项大工中尽了祂的本分,如今正等待着跟从祂之人的合作。救恩的计划已充分发展。?{1NL 115.3}
§53 In behalf of the souls for whom Christ has died, who are in the darkness of error, it is enjoined upon all true followers of Christ to be a light to the world. God has done His part in the great work, and is waiting for the co-operation of His followers. The plan of salvation is fully developed.?{1NL 115.3}
§54 耶稣基督的血已为世人的罪恶献上,上帝的道正在对人说话,劝勉人、责备人、警告人、应许人和鼓励人,并赐与圣灵的效能来帮助人一切的努力。然而虽有这一切的亮光,世界仍然正在黑暗中灭亡,埋葬在谬论和罪恶中。{1NL 115.4}
§55 The blood of Jesus Christ is offered for the sins of the world, the Word of God is speaking to man in counsels, in reproofs, in warnings, in promises, and in encouragement, and the efficacy of the Holy Spirit is extended to help him in all his efforts. But with all this light the world is still perishing in darkness, buried in error and sin.?{1NL 115.4}
§56 仁慈的使者Messengers of Mercy
§57 谁愿意与上帝同工,去争取这些生灵归向真理?谁愿意把救恩的好消息传给他们?已蒙上帝惠赐亮光和真理的人要作仁慈的使者。他们的钱财要流入神圣的渠道。他们要付出认真的努力。他们要成为与上帝同工的人,舍己、自我牺牲,像耶稣一样,祂为我们的缘故成为贫穷,叫我们因祂的贫穷,可以成为富足。……?{1NL 115.5}
§58 Who will be laborers together with God, to win these souls to the truth? Who will bear to them the good tidings of salvation? The people whom God has blessed with light and truth are to be the messengers of mercy. Their means is to flow into the divine channel. Their earnest efforts are to be put forth. They are to become laborers together with God, self-denying, self-sacrificing, like Jesus, who for our sakes became poor, that we through His poverty might be made rich....?{1NL 115.5}
§59 上帝已启迪你关于祂自己的知识了吗?祂圣言的宝藏已向你的悟性开放以致你理解其中的真理了吗?那么就用你的能力去做工吧。只要你心里谦卑纯洁,目的专一,你就会看到上帝圣工的需要和缺乏。你就会看到有外国要访问,传道士们必须带着自我牺牲和献身的精神出发,去作工,舍己,为基督的缘故受苦。{1NL 115.6}
§60 Has God enlightened you with a knowledge of Himself? Have the?treasures of His Word been opened to your understanding, so that you have become intelligent in regard to the truths therein? Then go to work with your ability. If you are only humble, pure in heart, single in purpose, you will see the needs and wants of God’s cause. You will see that there are foreign countries to be visited, that missionaries must go forth with the spirit of self-sacrifice and devotion, to labor, to deny self, to suffer for Christ’s sake.?{1NL 115.6}
§61 即使在你自己的国家也有成千上万各国、各方、各民的人是无知和迷信的,对圣经或其神圣的教导一无所知。上帝的手安排他们来到美国,好叫他们可以处在祂的道中所启示之真理的光照影响之下,并且变得与祂拯救的信心有分。多少人对这些外人感到关心呢?多少人受到主的精神激励,要向那些可以说是被带到我们家门口的人充任传道士呢?什么才会唤醒我们的各教会觉悟他们的真实状况呢?在他们接触范围内的生灵正在灭亡时,他们却处在嗜睡和无作为的状态!{1NL 116.1}
§62 And even in our own country there are thousands of all nations, and tongues, and peoples who are ignorant and superstitious, having no knowledge of the Bible or its sacred teachings. God’s hand was in their coming to America, that they might be brought under the enlightening influence of the truth revealed in His Word, and become partakers of His saving faith. How many have felt any interest for these strangers? How many have been stirred with the spirit of the Master to act as missionaries to those brought, as it were, to our very doors? What will arouse our churches to their true condition of sleepiness and inactivity while souls are perishing within their reach??{1NL 116.1}
§63 在有一个工人的地方,应该有几百个人在接受从上帝口中所出的一切话,并照着人们所能承受的将之传给人。原能做成比已经成就的多一百倍的工作。{1NL 116.2}
§64 Where there is one laborer there ought to be hundreds receiving every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, and giving it to the people as they can bear it. A hundredfold more might have been done than has been done.?{1NL 116.2}
§65 一种世俗的精神在自称上帝仆人的人中间流行,人的灵魂在他们看来还不值他们的牲畜、他们的农场、他们的生意一半的价值。上帝必要他们为过去这种可怕的疏忽交账;但是他们将来要怎么做呢?他们会开始与我们伟大的恩主合作吗?他们会作为有真理之光的人,让那光照耀黑暗中的人吗?{1NL 116.3}
§66 A worldly spirit has prevailed among the professed servants of God, and the souls of men have not been counted of half as much value as their cattle, their farms, and their business. God will hold them accountable for this terrible neglect in the past; but what are they going to do in the future? Will they come into co-operation with our great Benefactor? Will they as men who have had the light of truth, let that light shine forth to those in darkness??{1NL 116.3}
§67 上帝已尊荣了他们,使他们有特权在伟大的收割园地中与基督同工。他们愿意充满感激地、由衷地接受上帝提供的一切有利条件,殷勤地善用那些条件,利用每一能力和每一个神圣的委托从事主的服务吗?他们在神圣的生活上成功进步取决于善用所借给他们的才干。他们将来的奖赏必与他们用来侍奉主的正直和诚恳相称。(《评论与通讯》1887年3月1日){1NL 116.4}
§68 God has honored them with the privilege of being colaborers with Christ in the great harvest field. Will they thankfully, heartily receive all the advantages God has provided, and diligently improve them by exercise, using every ability and every sacred trust in the service of the Master? Their success in advancement in the divine life depends upon the improvement of the talents lent them. Their future reward will be proportioned to the integrity and earnestness with which they serve the Master.—The Review and Herald, March 1, 1887.?{1NL 116.4}
