第182章 致乌利亚?史密斯
§1 第182章 致乌利亚?史密斯
§2 Chapter 184—To O. A. Olsen
§3 《信函》1896年第96号S-96-18961896年6月6日于澳大利亚新南威尔士州库兰邦森尼赛德
§4 “Sunnyside,” Cooranbong, N.S.W., June 6, ’96.
§5 密歇根州巴特尔克里克乌利亚?史密斯长老
§6 Eld. U. Smith,Battle Creek, Mich.:
§7 亲爱的弟兄:Dear Brother:—
§8 所附的几页文字是昨天夜里主向怀姐妹启示的几个要点。她希望寄给你。近日来她罹患感冒和劳累过度,今天无法阅读写作。这份材料是根据她的口授记录的。我们还寄上S.E.梅尔的几份文章和信函的副本。怀姐妹希望你能阅读。但由于我们无法确定你是否在巴特尔克里克,我们把这些材料寄给坦尼长老,嘱咐他阅读并转给你。
§9 The enclosed pages present a few points which were opened to Sister White last night, and which she wished sent to you. She has for some days been suffering from the effects of cold and overwork, and is today unable to read or write. The matter was written out as she presented it. We sent some copies of articles and letters by the S.F. mail, which Sister White desired you to read; but as we were not certain that you were in Battle Creek, they were addressed to Elder Tenney, with direction that he read and forward to you. {1888 1574.1}
§10 你的同工 M.戴维斯{1888 1574.1}
§11 Yours in the work,M. Davis
§12 “律法是我们训蒙的师傅,引我们到基督那里,使我们因信称义”(加3:24)。在这节经文中,圣灵藉使徒所说的主要是道德律法。律法向我们指出什么是罪,使我们感觉需要基督。于是,我们就藉着向上帝悔改并信靠我们主耶稣基督,投奔祂求赦罪和平安。{1888 1575.1}
§13 “The law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” In this scripture, the Holy Spirit through the apostle is speaking especially of the moral law. The law reveals sin to us, and causes us to feel our need of Christ, and to flee unto him for pardon and peace by exercising repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. {1888 1575.1}
§14 在明尼阿波利斯反对主藉着(E.J.)瓦格纳和(A.T.)琼斯弟兄所传达的信息,其主要原因是不愿意放弃先入之见,接受这个真理。撒但藉着掀起这种反对的精神,在很大程度上成功地阻止了我们信徒获得上帝所渴望赐给他们的圣灵特别的能力。他们本可象使徒在五旬节后传扬真理那样,获得将福音传遍世界的效能,但仇敌却拦阻了他们。本应以其荣耀普照全地的亮光受到了抵制,我们自己弟兄的行动,在很大程度上妨碍了真光传播到世界。{1888 1575.2}
§15 An unwillingness to yield up preconceived opinions, and to accept this truth, lay at the foundation of a large share of the opposition manifested at Minneapolis against the Lord’s message through Brethren Waggoner and Jones. By exciting that opposition, Satan succeeded in shutting away from our people, in a great measure, the special power of the Holy Spirit that God longed to impart to them. The enemy prevented them from obtaining that efficiency which might have been theirs in carrying the truth to the world, as the apostles proclaimed it after the day of Pentecost. The light that is to lighten the whole earth with its glory was resisted, and by the action of our own brethren has been in a great degree kept away from the world. {1888 1575.2}
§16 我们要从禁律的角度,更要从慈怜的角度来看十诫的律法。顺从它的戒律乃是幸福的可靠保障。我们如果在基督里接受律法,它就会在我们里面生出纯洁的品格,给我们带来永久的快乐。对于顺从的人来说,律法是一道保护的围墙,从中我们可以看到上帝的良善,祂向人类显示不变的公义原则,力求保护他们脱离犯罪的恶果。{1888 1575.3}
§17 The law of ten commandments is not to be looked upon as much from the prohibitory side, as from the mercy side. Its prohibitions are the sure guarantee of happiness in obedience. As received in Christ, it works in us the purity of character that will bring joy to us 1576through eternal ages. To the obedient it is a wall of protection. We behold in it the goodness of God, who by revealing to men the immutable principles of righteousness, seeks to shield them from the evils that result from transgression. {1888 1575.3}
§18 我们不要以为上帝总是在等待着要惩罚罪人。罪人受惩罚是咎由自取。他们的所作所为,造成了带来必然后果的一系列环境。每一桩犯罪的行为都会对罪人产生反作用,使他的品格发生一定的变化,从而更加容易再去犯罪。因着选择罪,人类与上帝隔开了,自绝于赐福的渠道,结果就是毁灭和死亡。{1888 1576.1}
§19 We are not to regard God as waiting to punish the sinner for his sin. The sinner brings the punishment upon himself. His own actions start a train of circumstances that bring the sure result. Every act of transgression reacts upon the sinner, works in him a change of character, and makes it more easy for him to transgress again. By choosing to sin, men separate themselves from God, cut themselves off from the channel of blessing, and the sure result is ruin and death. {1888 1576.1}
§20 律法是上帝思想的表达。我们在基督里接受了律法,律法就成了我们的思想。它会使我们摆脱本性欲望与倾向的权势,摆脱犯罪的引诱。“爱祢律法的人有大平安,什么都不能使他们绊脚”(诗119:165)。{1888 1576.2}
§21 The law is an expression of God’s idea: when we receive it in Christ it becomes our idea; it lifts us above the power of natural desires and tendencies, above temptations that lead to sin. “Great peace have they that love thy law; and nothing shall offend them,”—cause them to stumble. {1888 1576.2}
§22 不义中没有平安,恶人乃是在与上帝作战。但那在基督里接受律法之义的人却是与上天和谐的。“慈爱和诚实彼此相遇;公义和平安彼此相亲”(诗85:10)。{1888 1576.3}
§23 There is no peace in unrighteousness; the wicked are at war with God. But he who receives the righteousness of the law in Christ is in harmony with heaven. “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” {1888 1576.3}
