第8章 城市
§1 第8章 城市
§2 Chapter 8—The Cities
§3 最初的城市建造者
§4 The Original City Builders
§5 该隐受了上帝的咒诅之后,就退出他父亲的家庭。他起初以耕种土地为业,如今他却建了一座城,按着他长子的名字给那城命名为以诺(创4:17)。他已经离开耶和华的跟前,放弃了恢复伊甸的应许,而在被罪所咒诅的地上追求产业和享乐。这样,他就作了那些敬拜世界之神者的魁首。--PP 81 (1890年) {LDE 109.1}
§6 Upon receiving the curse of God, Cain had withdrawn from his father’s household. He had first chosen his occupation as a tiller of the soil, and he now founded a city, calling it after the name of his eldest son [Genesis 4:17]. He had gone out from the presence of the Lord, cast away the promise of the restored Eden, to seek his possessions and enjoyment in the earth under the curse of sin, thus standing at the head of that great class of men who worship the god of this world.—Patriarchs and Prophets, 81 (1890). {LDE 109.1}
§7 洪水之后的一段时期中,挪亚和他的儿孙仍旧住在方舟所停留的群山之间。后来他们人数增加,不久就因背道而引起了分裂。那些要忘记创造主并要摆脱祂律法约束的人,觉得他们敬畏上帝之同伴的教训和榜样乃是一种经常的烦扰;所以过不久就决定离开敬拜上帝的人。因此,他们就迁移到幼发拉底河两岸的示拿平原去。……{LDE 109.2}
§8 For a time the descendants of Noah continued to dwell among the mountains where the ark had rested. As their numbers increased, apostasy soon led to division. Those who desired to forget their Creator and to cast off the restraint of His law felt a constant annoyance from the teaching and example of their God-fearing associates, and after a time they decided to separate from the worshipers of God. Accordingly they journeyed to the plain of Shinar, on the banks of the river Euphrates.... {LDE 109.2}
§9 他们决意在这里造一座城,城内造一座极高的塔,使它成为世界的奇观(创11:2-4)。--PP 118, 119 (1890) {LDE 110.1}
§10 Here they decided to build a city, and in it a tower of such stupendous height as should render it the wonder of the world [Genesis 11:2-4].—Patriarchs and Prophets, 118, 119 (1890). {LDE 110.1}
§11 城市是罪恶的温床
§12 The Cities Are Hotbeds of Vice
§13 城市是娱乐和消遣的中心。许多父母为他们的儿女在城市里安家,想为他们提供更多的便利,结果却大失所望,悔之莫及。今日的城市很快就要变成所多玛和蛾摩拉。众多的节假日助长了游手好闲的风气。各种刺激性的娱乐——戏剧,赛马,赌博,酗酒,狂欢等——使人的情绪极度兴奋。青年人被这种世俗的潮流冲走了。--COL 54 (1900). {LDE 110.2}
§14 The pursuit of pleasure and amusement centers in the cities. Many parents who choose a city home for their children, thinking to give them greater advantages, meet with disappointment, and too late repent their terrible mistake. The cities of today are fast becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah. The many holidays encourage idleness. The exciting sports—theater-going, horse-racing, gambling, liquor-drinking, and reveling—stimulate every passion to intense activity. The youth are swept away by the popular current.—Christ’s Object Lessons, 54 (1900). {LDE 110.2}
§15 我蒙赐予亮光,得知各城市将要充满骚乱、强暴和不法之事,而且这些事必不住地增加,直到世界历史结束。--7T 84 (1902). {LDE 110.3}
§16 Light has been given me that the cities will be filled with confusion, violence, and crime, and that these things will increase till the end of this earth’s history.—Testimonies for the Church 7:84 (1902). {LDE 110.3}
§17 世界上的一切大城,愈变愈成为罪恶汇聚之所了。淫声恶色,肉欲的引诱和堕落的陷井,比比皆是。--MH 363 (1905). {LDE 110.4}
§18 The world over, cities are becoming hotbeds of vice. On every hand are the sights and sounds of evil. Everywhere are enticements to sensuality and dissipation.—The Ministry of Healing, 363 (1905). {LDE 110.4}
§19 审判临到城市
§20 Judgments Coming on the Cities
§21 可怕的打击要突然临到地上,以高昂的代价盖造的富丽堂皇的宫殿肯定会变为废墟。--3MR 312 (1891). {LDE 110.5}
§22 Terrible shocks will come upon the earth, and the lordly palaces erected at great expense will certainly become heaps of ruins.—Manuscript Releases 3:312 (1891). {LDE 110.5}
§23 当上帝抑制的手挪开之时,那毁灭者就会开始他的工作。那时巨大的灾难会临到我们的城市。--3MR 314 (1897). {LDE 111.1}
§24 When God’s restraining hand is removed, the destroyer begins his work. Then in our cities the greatest calamities will come.—Manuscript Releases 3:314 (1897). {LDE 111.1}
§25 在芝加哥的火灾和墨尔本、伦敦及纽约市的火灾中,主向全地的居民发出了警告。--Ms 127, 1897. {LDE 111.2}
§26 The Lord gives warnings to the inhabitants of the earth, as in the Chicago fire and the fires in Melbourne, London, and the city of New York.—Manuscript 127, 1897. {LDE 111.2}
§27 末日近了,各个城市在每一方面都要被完全颠倒。在每一个城市中都将有混乱。能够被震动的一切都将被震动,而我们不知道接下来会发生什么事。刑罚要按照人的罪行和他们所领受真理的亮光而定。--1MR 248 (1902). {LDE 111.3}
§28 The end is near and every city is to be turned upside down every way. There will be confusion in every city. Everything that can be shaken is to be shaken and we do not know what will come next. The judgments will be according to the wickedness of the people and the light of truth that they have had.—Manuscript Releases 1:248 (1902). {LDE 111.3}
§29 啊!但愿上帝的子民都感悟到:千万个现今几乎全然沉迷于拜偶像之风气中的城市,即将遭遇毁灭的厄运了!--Ev 29 (1903). {LDE 111.4}
§30 O that God’s people had a sense of the impending destruction of thousands of cities, now almost given to idolatry.—Evangelism, 29 (1903). {LDE 111.4}
§31 大城市被扫荡无遗的时候已经迫近了,应当警告众人,使他们注意迅即临到的审判。--Ev 29 (1910). {LDE 111.5}
§32 The time is near when large cities will be swept away, and all should be warned of these coming judgments.—Evangelism, 29 (1910). {LDE 111.5}
§33 防灾的建筑要化为灰烬
§34 Catastrophe-proof Buildings Will Become Ashes
§35 我看到那些盖造起来的最豪华的建筑物,被认为是防火的,但是正如所多玛在上帝报应的火中灭亡了一样,照样这些引以自豪的建筑物要化为灰烬。……那些为显示人的丰功伟绩而建造的纪念碑,甚至在最后的大毁灭临到世界之前就要化为乌有。--3SM 418 (1901). {LDE 111.6}
§36 I have seen the most costly structures in buildings erected and supposed to be fireproof, and just as Sodom perished in the flames of God’s vengeance so will these proud structures become ashes.... The flattering monuments of men’s greatness will be crumbled in the dust even before the last great destruction comes upon the world.—Selected Messages 3:418 (1901). {LDE 111.6}
§37 上帝正在从邪恶的城市收回祂的灵,这些城市已经变得像大洪水以前的城市,像所多玛和蛾摩拉一样。……当主看到那些业主们已经超过宽容的限度时,那些代价高昂的大厦,那些令人叹为观止的建筑艺术,将在顷刻之间被摧毁。那些被认为是防火的雄伟建筑物却被火毁灭了,这是一个例证,说明地上的所有建筑将在多么短的时间内变成废墟。--TDG 152 (1902). {LDE 112.1}
§38 God is withdrawing His Spirit from the wicked cities, which have become as the cities of the antediluvian world and as Sodom and Gomorrah.... Costly mansions, marvels of architectural skill, will be destroyed without a moment’s notice when the Lord sees that the owners have passed the boundaries of forgiveness. The destruction by fire of the stately buildings, supposed to be fireproof, is an illustration of how in a short time earth’s architecture will lie in ruins.—This Day With God, 152 (1902). {LDE 112.1}
§39 人要继续建造价值亿万元的豪华大楼,让别人特别注意他们建筑物的壮丽和坚固。但是上帝已经指示我,尽管这些建筑异常坚固和豪华,却要遭遇和耶路撒冷圣殿一样的命运。--5BC 1098 (1906). {LDE 112.2}
§40 Men will continue to erect expensive buildings, costing millions of money. Special attention will be called to their architectural beauty and the firmness and solidity with which they are constructed, but the Lord has instructed me that despite the unusual firmness and expensive display, these buildings will share the fate of the temple in Jerusalem.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 5:1098 (1906). {LDE 112.2}
§41 纽约市New York City
§42 上帝并没有毫无怜悯地倾降祂的愤怒。祂的手仍然伸着。祂的信息一定要传给大纽约市。必须向人们显明,上帝完全有可能轻而易举地毁灭他们已聚集起来预防末后大日的财产。--3MR 310, 311 (1902). {LDE 112.3}
§43 God has not executed His wrath without mercy. His hand is stretched out still. His message must be given in Greater New York. The people must be shown how it is possible for God, by a touch of His hand, to destroy the property they have gathered together against the last great day.—Manuscript Releases 3:310, 311 (1902). {LDE 112.3}
§44 关于什么事情会临到纽约,我没有特别的亮光,我只知道有一天由于上帝翻天覆地的大能,这些高楼大厦将会倒塌。……死亡会在各处出现。这也就是为什么我如此渴望我们的城市得到警告。--RH 1906年7月5日. {LDE 112.4}
§45 I have no light in particular in regard to what is coming on New York, only that I know that one day the great buildings there will be thrown down by the turning and overturning of God’s power.... Death will come in all places. This is why I am so anxious for our cities to be warned.—The Review and Herald, July 5, 1906. {LDE 112.4}
§46 有一次在纽约市,我在夜间异像中见有许多摩天大厦,层层相叠,高耸入云。这些房子都有防火设施。建筑者和屋主造这房屋的宗旨,乃是要荣耀自己。……{LDE 113.1}
§47 On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders.... {LDE 113.1}
§48 此后,我忽然听见失火的警报。人们望着这些想来能防火的大厦说:“不要紧,这些房子是绝对不会有危险的。”岂知这些房子却完全被火烧净,好像是松脂做的一样。消防车不能扑灭火势,消防队也无济于事。--9T 12, 13 (1909). {LDE 113.2}
§49 The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fireproof buildings and said: “They are perfectly safe.” But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines.—Testimonies for the Church 9:12, 13 (1909). {LDE 113.2}
§50 芝加哥和洛杉矶
§51 Chicago and Los Angeles
§52 在芝加哥以及在其它大城市不久要发生的场面在我面前经过。当邪恶增加,上帝保护的能力撤回时,就会有毁灭性的狂风和暴雨。建筑物会被火摧毁,因地震倒塌。……{LDE 113.3}
§53 Scenes that would soon take place in Chicago and other large cities also passed before me. As wickedness increased and the protecting power of God was withdrawn there were destructive winds and tempests. Buildings were destroyed by fire and shaken down by earthquakes.... {LDE 113.3}
§54 在这之后一些时候,我蒙启示看到在芝加哥的一些建筑物,和我们的百姓盖这些建筑的施工草图,以及它们的毁坏,这个异像对我们的百姓是一个实际教训,警告他们在芝加哥或其它任何城市不要投入大量资金于产业上,除非是上帝的旨意肯定地开路,并明白地指出有义务建筑或购买,作为传警告信息所必需的。关于在洛杉矶建筑,也给予了相似的警告。我再三蒙指示我们一定不能在城市投资盖昂贵的建筑。--PC 50 (1906). {LDE 113.4}
§55 Some time after this I was shown that the vision of buildings in Chicago and the draft upon the means of our people to erect them, and their destruction, was an object lesson for our people, warning them not to invest largely of their means in property in Chicago, or any other city, unless the providence of God should positively open the way and plainly point out duty to build or buy as necessary in giving the note of warning. A similar caution was given in regard to building in Los Angeles. Repeatedly I have been instructed that we must not invest means in the erection of expensive buildings in cities.—The Paulson Collection of Ellen G. White Letters, 50 (1906). {LDE 113.4}
§56 旧金山和奥克兰
§57 San Francisco and Oakland
§58 旧金山和奥克兰正在变得如同所多玛和蛾摩拉,主将报应它们。再过不久它们将遭受祂的刑罚。--Ms 30, 1903. {LDE 114.1}
§59 San Francisco and Oakland are becoming as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Lord will visit them. Not far hence they will suffer under His judgments.—Manuscript 30, 1903. {LDE 114.1}
§60 可怕的地震已经临到旧金山[1906年4月18-19日的旧金山地震和火灾,造成503人死亡,估计3.5亿美元的财产损失。],接着还会有上帝能力的其它表现。人们已经违犯了上帝的律法。城市已被罪恶所污染。学习尼尼微的历史吧。上帝通过约拿向那个邪恶的城市传达了一个特别的信息。……在我们这个时代,若是那些邪恶的城市愿意悔改,如同尼尼微所做的,那么很多像约拿的那样的信息会传出来。--Ms 61a,1906年6月3日. {LDE 114.2}
§61 The terrible earthquake that has visited San Francisco [The San Francisco earthquake and fire of April 18-19, 1906, left 503 dead and resulted in an estimated $350 million in property damage.] will be followed by other manifestations of the power of God. His law has been transgressed. Cities have become polluted with sin. Study the history of Nineveh. God sent a special message by Jonah to that wicked city.... Many such messages as his would be given in our age, if the wicked cities would repent as did Nineveh.—Manuscript 61a, 1906 (June 3). {LDE 114.2}
§62 即使在那些由于这样犯罪的缘故上帝的刑罚已经降下的城市里,也没有任何悔改的迹象。酒吧依然在开放,许多试探继续摆在人们的面前。--Letter 268,1906年8月20日. {LDE 114.3}
§63 Even in the cities where the judgments of God have fallen in consequence of such transgression there is no sign of repentance. The saloons are still open, and many temptations are kept before the people.—Letter 268, 1906 (August 20). {LDE 114.3}
§64 其它邪恶的城市Other Wicked Cities
§65 当我们接近世界历史的末了时,我们要看到旧金山遭难的情景在其它地方重演。……这些事情使我感到非常严肃,因为我知道审判大日就要临到我们。已经临到的这些审判是一个警告,但不是结束,刑罚将要突然临到邪恶的城市。……{LDE 114.4}
§66 As we near the close of this earth’s history, we shall have the scenes of the San Francisco calamity repeated in other places.... These things make me feel very solemn because I know that the judgment day is right upon us. The judgments that have already come are a warning, but not the finishing, of the punishment that will come on wicked cities.... {LDE 114.4}
§67 [引用哈2:1-20,番1:1-3:20,亚1:1-4:14,玛1:1-4。]这些情景不久就会被人看到,正象以上所清楚描写的。我提出圣经上这些惊人的陈述,为了让各位考虑。记载在旧约圣经上的这些预言是主论到末时的话语,将会同样确切地应验,正如我们已经看到旧金山的毁坏一样。--Letter 154,1906年5月26日.{LDE 115.1}
§68 [Habakkuk 2:1-20; Zephaniah 1:1-3:20; Zechariah 1:1-4:14; Malachi 1:1-4, quoted.] These scenes will soon be witnessed, just as they are clearly described. I present these wonderful statements from the Scriptures for the consideration of everyone. The prophecies recorded in the Old Testament are the word of the Lord for the last days, and will be fulfilled as surely as we have seen the desolation of San Francisco.—Letter 154, 1906 (May 26). {LDE 115.1}
§69 我受命宣布这样的信息:那些充满着犯罪、极度罪恶的城市,将被地震、火灾和洪水毁灭。--Ev 27 (1906年4月27日). {LDE 115.2}
§70 I am bidden to declare the message that cities full of transgression, and sinful in the extreme, will be destroyed by earthquakes, by fire, by flood.—Evangelism, 27 (April 27, 1906). {LDE 115.2}
§71 基督关于接近世界历史的末了时所要发生的大事的所有警告,现在正在我们的大城市中应验着。上帝正允许这些事成为人所共知的,以便来往的人可以明白。旧金山市是一个例子,说明整个世界正在变成什么。邪恶的贿赂、财富的贪污、那些有权力把罪人释放、定无辜人有罪的人们之间欺诈的交易——所有这些不法之事正在充满地上的其它大城市,正在使这个世界象洪水以前的时代一样。--Letter 230, 1907. {LDE 115.3}
§72 All the warnings of Christ regarding the events that will occur near the close of this earth’s history are now being fulfilled in our large cities. God is permitting these things to be brought to light that he who runs may read. The city of San Francisco is a sample of what the whole world is becoming. The wicked bribery, the misappropriation of means, the fraudulent transactions among men who have power to release the guilty and condemn the innocent—all this iniquity is filling other large cities of the earth and is making the world as it was in the days that were before the Flood.—Letter 230, 1907. {LDE 115.3}
§73 城市里的工会
§74 Labor Unions in the Cities
§75 在我们拥挤的城市里,撒但在忙于作工。在混乱、冲突、劳资纠纷、和已经进入教会的伪善中可以见到他的作为。……肉体的情欲、眼目的骄傲、自私的表现、权力的滥用、残忍的行为、以及用来促使人与联盟和工会——把他们自己捆成捆,等候末日大火的焚烧——联合的力量,所有这些都是撒但代理者的作为。--Ev 26 (1903).{LDE 116.1}
§76 Satan is busily at work in our crowded cities. His work is to be seen in the confusion, the strife and discord between labor and capital, and the hypocrisy that has come into the churches.... The lust of the flesh, the pride of the eyes, the display of selfishness, the misuse of power, the cruelty and the force used to cause men to unite with confederacies and unions—binding themselves up in bundles for the burning of the great fires of the last days—all these are the working of satanic agencies.—Evangelism, 26 (1903). {LDE 116.1}
§77 恶人正在抱成一团,组成种种协会,团体和同盟。我们不要参加这些组织。上帝是我们的主宰。衪叫我们从世界出来,并与它分别。“你们务要从他们中间出来,与他们分别,不要沾不洁净的物。”如果我们不肯这样做,继续与世俗同流,用世俗的眼光看待每一件事,我们就会世俗化。如果世俗的策略和观念主导了我们的交易,我们就不能站在永恒真理神圣的高台上。--4BC 1142 (1903). {LDE 116.2}
§78 The wicked are being bound up in bundles, bound up in trusts, in unions, in confederacies. Let us have nothing to do with these organizations. God is our Ruler, our Governor, and He calls us to come out from the world and be separate. “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing” [2 Corinthians 6:17]. If we refuse to do this, if we continue to link up with the world and to look at every matter from a worldly standpoint, we shall become like the world. When worldly policy and worldly ideas govern our transactions we cannot stand on the high and holy platform of eternal truth.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 4:1142 (1903). {LDE 116.2}
§79 工会是复临信徒的一个艰难之源
§80 Labor Unions a Source of Trouble for Adventists
§81 工会是有史以来从未有过的艰难时期临到世界的媒介之一。……{LDE 116.3}
§82 The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began.... {LDE 116.3}
§83 少数人要联合起来攫取某一行业的一切利润。工会要将组织起来。凡不参加的人,将会被另眼看待。……{LDE 117.1}
§84 A few men will combine to grasp all the means to be obtained in certain lines of business. Trades unions will be formed, and those who refuse to join these unions will be marked men.... {LDE 117.1}
§85 由于这些组织的存在,不久以后我们的机构将很难在城市里开展工作。我的警告是:要避开城市,不要在城市建立疗养院。--2SM 142 (1903) {LDE 117.2}
§86 Because of these unions and confederacies, it will soon be very difficult for our institutions to carry on their work in the cities. My warning is: Keep out of the cities. Build no sanitariums in the cities.—Selected Messages 2:142 (1903). {LDE 117.2}
§87 时候快到,工会的控制势力将越来越厉害。--2SM 141 (1904). {LDE 117.3}
§88 The time is fast coming when the controlling power of the labor unions will be very oppressive.—Selected Messages 2:141 (1904). {LDE 117.3}
§89 在城市里很多人渴望亮光和真理
§90 Many in the Cities Long for Light and Truth
§91 各国的城市虽必遭受严厉的处置,但仍不至经受上帝极度的忿怒,因为还有些生灵终必逃脱仇敌的诸般迷惑,而悔改皈主。--Ev 27 (1906). {LDE 117.4}
§92 Strictly will the cities of the nations be dealt with, and yet they will not be visited in the extreme of God’s indignation, because some souls will yet break away from the delusions of the enemy and will repent and be converted.—Evangelism, 27 (1906). {LDE 117.4}
§93 笼罩整个世界的属灵的黑暗在人口密集的中心加强了。在各国的城市中,福音工人见到最多的不知悔改的人和最大的需要。在同样这些城市,一些最大的机会出现在救灵者面前。有很多渴望亮光和心灵纯洁的人,混杂在对上帝和天国毫无所知的人群中。甚至在粗心大意和漠不关心的人当中,也有不少的人他们的注意力可能被上帝对人类之爱的启示吸引。--RH 1910年11月17日. {LDE 117.5}
§94 The spiritual darkness that covers the whole world is intensified in the crowded centers of population. It is in the cities of the nations that the gospel worker finds the greatest impenitence and the greatest need. And in these same cities are presented to soul-winners some of the greatest opportunities. Mingled with the multitudes who have no thought of God and heaven are many who long for light and for purity of heart. Even among the careless and indifferent there are not a few whose attention may be arrested by a revelation of God’s love for the human soul.—The Review and Herald, November 17, 1910. {LDE 117.5}
§95 城市中需要最恳切的努力
§96 Earnest Effort Needed in the Cities
§97 我们要在大城市中做大量的工作,为我们的主来临作准备。在这些大的中心点,我们要作严肃的见证。--《鼓励自养工人的话》(Ph 113) 5 (1909). {LDE 118.1}
§98 In preparation for the coming of our Lord, we are to do a large work in the great cities. We have a solemn testimony to bear in these great centers.—Words of Encouragement to Self-supporting Workers (Ph 113), 5 (1909). {LDE 118.1}
§99 当代警告的信息在上层工商界还没有得到认真的传扬。日复一日这些商业和贸易中心群集着需要当代真理的男男女女,但是他们没有得到救恩的知识及其宝贵原理,因为没有付出最恳切与坚忍的努力去接近他们所在的这一阶层。--CW 14 (1909). {LDE 118.2}
§100 The warning message for this time is not being given earnestly in the great business world. Day after day the centers of commerce and trade are thronged with men and women who need the truth for this time but who gain no saving knowledge of its precious principles because earnest, persevering efforts are not put forth to reach this class of people where they are.—Counsels to Writers and Editors, 14 (1909). {LDE 118.2}
§101 现在应传扬第三位天使的信息,不仅在遥远的地区,而且在近旁被忽略的地方,在那里居住众多的人没有得到警告、没有得救。我们各处的城市正要求上帝的仆人最热心和诚恳的效劳。--RH 1910年11月17日. {LDE 118.3}
§102 The third angel’s message is now to be proclaimed, not only in far-off lands, but in neglected places close by, where multitudes dwell unwarned and unsaved. Our cities everywhere are calling for earnest, whole-hearted labor from the servants of God.—The Review and Herald, November 17, 1910. {LDE 118.3}
§103 至今还不是所有的人都能离开城市
§104 Not All Can Leave the Cities Yet
§105 无论何时,只要可能的话,作父母的有责任要为他们的儿女在乡间安置住家。--AH 141 (1906). {LDE 118.4}
§106 Whenever possible, it is the duty of parents to make homes in the country for their children.—The Adventist Home, 141 (1906). {LDE 118.4}
§107 随着时间的推移,我们会有越来越多的信徒被迫离开城市。多年以来我们一直得到指示,就是我们的弟兄姐妹,特别是有孩子的家庭,当面前的道路打开时,他们就要动迁。许多人将不得不努力工作来打开出路。但在他们离开之前,只要他们还留在城市,就当积极从事传道工作,不管他们的影响力多么有限。--2SM 360 (1906). {LDE 118.5}
§108 More and more, as time advances, our people will have to leave the cities. For years we have been instructed that our brethren and sisters, and especially families with children, should plan to leave the cities as the way opens before them to do so. Many will have to labor earnestly to help open the way. But until it is possible for them to leave, so long as they remain, they should be most active in doing missionary work, however limited their sphere of influence may be.—Selected Messages 2:360 (1906). {LDE 118.5}
§109 城市里的罪恶与日俱增,那些冒着灵命的危险,仍旧呆在城市里的人是不必要这样做的,这一点正变得越来越明显。--CL 9 (1907). {LDE 119.1}
§110 Our cities are increasing in wickedness, and it is becoming more and more evident that those who remain in them unnecessarily do so at the peril of their soul’s salvation.—Country Living, 9 (1907). {LDE 119.1}
§111 许多的城市正浸渍于罪恶及道德的败落中,然而仍有许多的罗得在每个所多玛城之中。--6T 136 (1900). {LDE 119.2}
§112 Cities and towns are steeped in sin and moral corruption, yet there are Lots in every Sodom.—Testimonies for the Church 6:136 (1900). {LDE 119.2}
§113 学校、教堂和餐馆需要在城市
§114 Schools, Churches, Restaurants Needed in the Cities
§115 对于拯救及教育目前无法离开城市的孩童,我们还有很多的工作要做。这是十分值得我们出尽大力的事工。应当为城市中的孩童设立教会学校,并要筹划在有必要之时,加办与这些学校有关的较高级课程。--CG 306 (1903). {LDE 119.3}
§116 Much more can be done to save and educate the children of those who at present cannot get away from the cities. This is a matter worthy of our best efforts. Church schools are to be established for the children in the cities, and in connection with these schools provision is to be made for the teaching of higher studies, where these are called for.—Child Guidance, 306 (1903). {LDE 119.3}
§117 我们的餐馆必须设在城市里,否则在这些餐馆里工作的人就不能接触人群,以便教导他们正确的生活原则。--2SM 142 (1903). {LDE 119.4}
§118 Our restaurants must be in the cities, for otherwise the workers in these restaurants could not reach the people and teach them the principles of right living.—Selected Messages 2:142 (1903). {LDE 119.4}
§119 主一再指示:我们应当从前哨基地向城市开展工作。在城市里我们要有崇拜的地方,作为上帝的纪念标志。可是出版机构,医疗机构和工人培训机构应设在郊外,特别重要的是要保护我们的青年不受城市生活试探的侵害。--2SM 358 (1907). {LDE 120.1}
§120 Repeatedly the Lord has instructed us that we are to work the cities from outpost centers. In these cities we are to have houses of worship, as memorials for God, but institutions for the publication of our literature, for the healing of the sick, and for the training of workers [colleges], are to be established outside the cities. Especially is it important that our youth be shielded from the temptations of city life.—Selected Messages 2:358 (1907). {LDE 120.1}
§121 不提倡匆忙搬到乡村
§122 Precipitous Moves to the Country Not Advised
§123 每一个人都要花时间慎重考虑;不要像比喻中的人那样,动工建造,却不能完成。动迁之前,要权衡得失,把相关问题全都考虑清楚。……{LDE 120.2}
§124 Let everyone take time to consider carefully and not be like the man in the parable who began to build and was not able to finish. Not a move should be made but that movement and all that it portends are carefully considered—everything weighed.... {LDE 120.2}
§125 有些人可能草率行事,去从事他们所不了解的事情。上帝并没有这样的要求。……{LDE 120.3}
§126 There may be individuals who will make a rush to do something, and enter into some business they know nothing about. This God does not require.... {LDE 120.3}
§127 不要无序地行动,因煽动性的演讲所激起的热情而导致财产的巨大损失与牺牲。这不符合上帝的旨意,会使重要的胜利,因缺乏冷静的安排,适当的思考和周到的原则与宗旨而变为失败。--2SM 362, 363 (1893).[这是1893年12月22日给巴特尔克里克一位领导人的回信。来信告诉怀夫人,巴特尔克里克有“一两百人”响应她的呼吁,准备 “尽快”离开城市到郊区去。见《信息选粹》卷二361-364页。] {LDE 120.4}
§128 Let there be nothing done in a disorderly manner, that there shall be a great loss or sacrifice made upon property because of ardent, impulsive speeches which stir up an enthusiasm which is not after the order of God, that a victory that was essential to be gained, shall, for lack of level-headed moderation and proper contemplation and sound principles and purposes, be turned into a defeat.—Selected Messages 2:362, 363 (1893). [Written December 22, 1893, in reply to a letter from a leading worker in Battle Creek who had informed Mrs. White that, in response to her urging, “between one and two hundred” were preparing to leave the city for a rural location “as soon as possible.” See Selected Messages 2:361-364.] {LDE 120.4}
§129 逃离城市的信号
§130 The Signal for Flight From the Cities
§131 时日已不远了,我们要象早期的门徒一样,被迫在荒凉偏僻之处寻找避难所。从前耶路撒冷城被罗马军队围困,对于犹太地基督徒乃是逃命的信号。照样,我们国家的越权强迫人守罗马教的安息日,便是对我们的警告。这时我们就应离开各大城市,准备逃离较小的城镇,而去在山间僻静之处寻找隐居的住所。--5T 464, 465 (1885). {LDE 121.1}
§132 The time is not far distant when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation, in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath, will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains.—Testimonies for the Church 5:464, 465 (1885). {LDE 121.1}
§133 死刑命令通过后仍有一些义人在城市中
§134 Some Righteous Still in the Cities After the Death Decree Has Been Passed
§135 在那艰难的时期,我们都逃出了各城市村镇,但却有恶人在后面追逐着,他们手里拿着刀剑进入圣徒的家。--EW 34 (1851). {LDE 121.2}
§136 In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with a sword.—Early Writings, 34 (1851). {LDE 121.2}
§137 当圣徒离开各城市和各村镇的时候,恶人便追逼他们,设法要杀害上帝百姓的刀剑却象一根草一样折断而坠落于地。有上帝的使者掩护着圣徒。--EW 284, 285 (1858). {LDE 121.3}
§138 As the saints left the cities and villages they were pursued by the wicked, who sought to slay them. But the swords that were raised to kill God’s people broke and fell as powerless as a straw. Angels of God shielded the saints.—Early Writings, 284, 285 (1858). {LDE 121.3}
§139 虽然当局已经发出公告,规定一个期限,要把遵守诫命的人置于死地,但他们有一些仇敌不等限期来到就要设法害死他们。然而没有一个人能越过那驻守在每一个忠心信徒身旁的大能守卫者。有的地方,恶人想要袭击那从城市和乡村中逃出的义人;但那举起来击杀他们的刀剑忽然折断,并坠落于地,脆弱如草。另一些义人则有天使显出战士的形状来保护他们。--GC 631 (1911年) {LDE 121.4}
§140 Though a general decree has fixed the time when commandment-keepers may be put to death, their enemies will in some cases anticipate the decree, and before the time specified will endeavor to take their lives. But none can pass the mighty guardians stationed about every faithful soul. Some are assailed in their flight from the cities and villages, but the swords raised against them break and fall as powerless as a straw. Others are defended by angels in the form of men of war.—The Great Controversy, 631 (1911). {LDE 121.4}
