我们不应该以世界作为我们的标准。现今所崇尚的是放纵食欲，享用珍馐美味和不自然的兴奋剂，从而加强了兽性并摧残道德机能的发展与进步。亚当的任何儿女若不坚决在凡事上实行节制，就没有希望在基督徒的战争中获得胜利。他们若能凡事节制，作战就不会“象打空气的”了。——《教会证言》卷四第35页(1876年).{CH51.2}[1]

The world should be no criterion for us. It is fashionable to indulge the appetite in luxurious food and unnatural stimulus, thus strengthening the animal propensities and crippling the growth and development of the moral faculties. There is no encouragement given to any of the sons or daughters of Adam that they may become victorious overcomers in the Christian warfare unless they decide to practice temperance in all things.
